Safe Work Australia has recently released the Australian Work Health and Safety Strategy 2023 – 2033. The Strategy is endorsed by all State and Territory Governments.

The purpose of the Strategy is to outline a national vision for Work Health and Safety of Safe and Healthy Work for all.

The strategy identifies six high risk industries with the highest rates of injuries, illnesses and fatalities as agriculture, construction, road transport, manufacturing, health care and social assistance and public administration and safety.

The strategy identifies persistent challenges, in particular, managing psychosocial risks as well as six emerging challenges which are:

• The rise of artificial intelligence
• New types of work
• Workforce demographic shifts
• Hybrid work
• Climate-related risks
• More complex supply chains
